Haller's new website

Haller has revamped the website, probably in reaction to the Worcester Magazine piece that discusses how close the election was last time, and this very blog! Some comments:

1. She should at least learn to spell her opponent's name right. 43% of the people in her district knew where to find it last time.

2. The pictures at the top of the website include what appears to be the College of the Holy Cross and perhaps the Worcester Tornadoes? I am unaware of her role in the founding of either.

3. Record distortion. Haller's website indicates under the candidate comparison section that Simonds, or as they prefer "simond", stands on the opposite side of the fence from Haller with regards to tax cuts, job creation, education reform, and several blank categories as well, they stand opposite. Since we have 30% unemployment* in the district, I'd love to see what jobs were created. As I have learned is necessary in blogging, Specifics, sources?

*mass unemployment figures

maybe candidate comparison should show where they stand on the recent city councilor pay increase?

2. "founding of"

Its a reference to the district. Holy Cross is in D4...the Tornadoes play at Holy Cross that is in D4. Its just a picture reference.

Oh wait...look George W is standing on a battleship declaring "Mission Accomplished"...did he make the banner? Did he make the battleship? DID HE MAKE THE OCEAN?!

My, how you are all quick to attack Barbara Haller's website, which is actually under construction and hasn't been completed. Maybe you should wait until it's done before you jump to conclusions or make dimwitted comments.

This is obviously the Simonds method of governing, shoot first, shoot second, shoot third and then ask a question if anybody is left.

It's easy to destroy. The hard part is building. Yet, I have seen nothing that Lynn or any of you have done to build District 4.

Pretty pathetic that in order for Lynn Simonds to look even half way desirable as a candidate, you have to try and destroy anybody that is a better candidate, which would be everybody.

Maybe you should wait until the website is completed before you post it! Easy enough to have a one-page site with basic info until the rest is done. Is this the Haller way--sloppy and half-assed, then whiny and defensive?

- Well then the website shouldn't "make up" stuff about the candidates records.

This is obviously the Simonds method of governing, shoot first, shoot second, shoot third and then ask a question if anybody is left.

- Examples?

It's easy to destroy. The hard part is building. Yet, I have seen nothing that Lynn or any of you have done to build District 4.

- Then you must be living under a rock. Lynne has quite a record with youth, with neighborhood groups, she has founded various groups including the Youth Center, she has worked with the elderly, she has a great track record.

Pretty pathetic that in order for Lynn Simonds to look even half way desirable as a candidate, you have to try and destroy anybody that is a better candidate, which would be everybody.

- It is up to the incumbent usually to convince voters why they should stay in office. Simonds certainly isn't destroying anyone by talking issues, and the record. The only one who is bent on destruction in Haller, who holds anti-homeless press conferences every other week devoid of substance or meaning, but full of sound and fury, and chooses to ignore vast swaths of people she is supposed to represent.

The real issue is, why is Haller so angry and venemous towards the poor in her district?

Funny thing. I have never seen Lynne Simonds in my neighborhood in the 12 years I've lived here. I doubt she even knows my neighborhood exists. Which is probably why we've never seen her at any of our neighborhood association meetings. Of course, Barbara loves our meetings.

well, I am glad to hear Haller goes to your neighborhood meetings, as she is your councilor. Since you don;t leave your neighborhood its hard to comment. I can guarantee that based on Lynne's solid record of accomplishment in neighborhoods, that you won't have broken benches in Elm Park, a lack of police on Vernon Hill, an Arts District with no ARTS, A Webster Square with no plan for traffic and business support, a college Hill with ramshackle development that shakes and rattles existing homes in that lovely neighborhood, a filthy Castle Park, seniors in elederly towers with no voice, and so on. Lynne grew up in Pleasant Street, and lives over by Clark now. She has a tremendous record on both sides of the district..........and she's not even an elected official!!

Let her know what your concerns are, I am sure she would represent you well when elected.

For starters, she could put the cash from the 89% greedy raise Barb awarded herself and put it to work for the district. Imagine more cash for senior buses or codes enforcement instead of for Barb's pocket. Did you ever vote yourself an 89% raise?
